Our boat textiles represent peak expertise in the field both in relation to quality and practical use.
We have successfully served boat manufacturers and our private customers for over 50 years. Our customers are all significant boat-makers in Finland as well as other Nordic countries. Our products are also delivered to Central and Southern Europe. As Europe’s largest manufacturer of original boat canopies, our private customers get exactly the right high-quality canopy, made according to the original patterns and models to suit their own boat model.

50 years of experience
We have successfully served boat manufacturers and our private customers for over 50 years.
Three factories
Our headquarters are in Kuopio where we operate in modern facilities of over 2,700 m². We also have factories in Poland and Portugal to serve our customers Europe-wide. VA-Varuste Poland is located in Suwałki, with a new 2,400 m² factory opened in 2017. Our newest factory was opened in late 2021 in Portugal. VA-Varuste Portugal has premises covering about 2,000 m² in Monçao. We already employ almost 200 textile professionals.
Modern, industrial methods
We can design boat canopies and cushions with high-tech 3D programming and with 3D-scanning. We digitalize the patterns and have the ability to cut them automatically with our cutting machines.
Efficient production
We make the products from start to finish in our own facilities – for example, our own metal department takes care of the canopy arches. Our highly efficient production ensures high-quality products and competitive prices.
Our customers are all significant boat-makers in Finland as well as other Nordic countries.

VA-Varuste Oy, the largest manufacturer of customised boat textiles in Europe, celebrated its 50th year in business in 2019.
1969
VA-Varuste was established
First VA-Varuste manufactured tents and protective covers for cars and car seats – it did not have any products for boats.
2006
Relocation to Siikaniemi
The boat industry was booming in the first few years of the 21st century and, to meet growing demand, VA-Varuste built its own factory on the shores of Lake Kallavesi in the Siikaniemi area of Kuopio.
2017
Opening of factory in Poland
VA-Varuste Poland now operates on modern premises with a floor area of 2,400 square metres, serving customers all over Europe.
2021
Opening of factory in Portugal
VA-Varuste Portugal serves customers all over Europe.

We employ over 60 professionals in the textiles field in Finland, and app. same amount professionals also in Poland. Our production facility, completed in 2006, offers excellent prerequisites for the combination of traditional handicraft skills and modern production methods. The facility is located in the Kuopio area in Finland on the beautiful shores of Lake Kallavesi, Siikaniemi.
